Rev. Katie Robb DavisAssociate Pastor

The Rev. Katie Robb Davis, Wellshire Associate Pastor, orchestrates mission, service, and outreach at Wellshire, as well as the coordination of congregational care – basically, her duties fall under the category of “love” at Wellshire.  She has been on staff at Wellshire since 2014.

Why did you choose to become a minister?
I grew up loving church for the people I knew there, the traditions, and the ways I was changed by doing service mission work.  The church loved me through some difficult losses. As I was considering seminary, a friend told me “the church is your heart’s home,” and it rang so true that I went all in.

What is your role at Wellshire?
LOVE.  (My primary responsibilities are mission, service, outreach, and the coordination of our congregational care.)

What is the biggest opportunity for our Wellshire community?
Greater love, commitment to one another and to the world, are always, always the opportunity that God gives us.

What is your favorite Bible verse?
Deuteronomy 30:11-14 — Surely this commandment that I am commanding you is not too hard for you, nor is too far away…it is in your mouth and in your heart for you to observe.

What are the things that make you happiest?
My family, my friends, green grass, sunshine, sleep (as the mother of a newborn!), and a nice glass of wine.

What is one thing that very few people know about you?
One of my favorite forms of exercise is tap dancing!!

Childhood ambition
As a child, I loved books, pictures, and documentaries about whales and dolphins. I also loved swimming, so I wanted to be, quite specifically, a marine mammologist. As that ambition faded into obscurity, I thought I might become a doctor, but my first molecular biology course in college proved me wrong about that!

Family
Married to the Rev. Bill Davis since May 2013, mother to Coulter since November 2014

Favorite book
Alice Walker’s The Temple of My Familiar, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, and John Philip Newell’s Listening for the Heartbeat of God

Favorite place you’ve ever visited and why
A childhood friend moved to Monterey, CA shortly after college. Over the years, I have visited many times. The Monterey Bay is teeming with sea life due to a large underwater canyon. I love riding a bike or walking along the coastal path there, stopping to watch for seals and otters.

Collegiate background

Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH Bachelor of Arts in Geography
