Denise Lanning is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she received the Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in organ performance. She has served churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Washington and Colorado as music director, choir director and organist. Currently, she is serving as interim pianist here at Wellshire Presbyterian.
Denise is active in the Denver Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Guild of Organists where she is sub-dean (program chair) and examination coordinator. She has been an adjudicator for the RCYO competitions (Regional Competition for Young Organists) and the Reuter/Augustana Arts Competition. Recently she authored a workbook titled In the Beginning……An Encounter with Improvisation at the Organ published by Wayne Leupold Editions. A strong advocate for continuing education, she studied for and earned the Guild’s Associate and Fellow certificates.
Denise lives in Denver with her husband John and is the proud mother of three sons (all of whom attended Wellshire Pre-School!), three daughters-in-law, and is proud grandmother to four amazing grandchildren and an assortment of grandpets.
