It is my goal to provide a resourceful, non-judgmental, and confidential “safe place” to explore your needs and concerns, and to work together to find solutions, growth, and healing.
With extensive professional training and life experience, I am client-centered and utilize strategic approaches based upon your needs. These approaches might include cognitive-behavioral education, an understanding of individual development and family systems, facilitation of communication and conflict resolution, and an integrated perspective of mind, body, and spirit that promotes optimal well-being.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and trained Mediator (MSW, LCSW). After completion of my undergraduate training at the University of Arkansas, I received a Masters of Social Work degree, with honors, at the University of Houston.
Why did you choose to become a therapist?
It is in my blood… my mother and sister are also Social Workers/therapists. I have early memories of going with my mother to minister to the poor in our neighborhood. I am privileged to work in a profession that has direct impact in others’ lives.
What is your role at Wellshire?
I serve as an individual, couples, and family therapist. Wellshire partners with Centus Counseling , Consulting, and Education to provide our services to members and the surrounding community onsite at WPC.
What is the greatest thing about being a therapist at Wellshire?
The greatest thing about being a therapist at Wellshire is the opportunity to offer faith-integrated psychotherapy to those who love God but also need help along the journey.
What is the biggest opportunity for our Wellshire community?
To work together, in all of our various capacities, to share God’s love and impact our community for the greater good.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
After my husband’s death at age 40, God comforted me with Psalms 16:11 – You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
Where do you find inspiration?
In nature, prayer, and the sharing of fellow sojourners…
What are the things that make you happiest?
Simple pleasures of being the “hub” for my family and walking my dogs at the end of the day.
When you’re not at Wellshire, where are you likely to be?
Either in front of my fireplace or outside enjoying the beautiful Colorado skies!
What is one thing that very few people know about you?
I grew up enjoying sports and the AR Razorbacks. I was privileged to be a Razorback cheerleader in college… Go Hogs! Now I enjoy the Broncos, Nuggets, and Rockies!!!
Born and raised in Little Rock, AR; last lived in Houston, TX for 30 years of my adult life.
To have fun!
Married to Steve for 19 years after we were both widowed early in life. Our blended family: 5 adult kids, 9 grandkids + 7 dogs!
Love our dogs – a Dalmatian and Lab. We spoil them, but they spoil us back!
I have to say, the Bible. I also enjoy the writings of Henri Nouwen, Paula D’Arcy, Richard Rohr, Thomas Keating and others.
What’s a blog?
Favorite place you’ve ever visited and why
I loved Paris – the Eiffel Tower, art, food, history, walking the Seine and eating paninis…need I say more?
