Why did you choose to pursue a career in music? What is your role at Wellshire? What is the greatest thing about the music ministries at Wellshire? What is your favorite Bible verse? Where do you find inspiration? When you’re not at Wellshire, where are you likely to be?
My high school choir director, Adam Cave, is the sole reason I am a music educator today. He inspired me to change lives through music.
I direct the Celebration Singers. We are a mixed choir, about 18 strong who sing at the Living Water worship service. Come join us!
The community and friendships we form by doing great music.
Isaiah 40:28-31. One of the most powerful moments in my life was singing a setting of this written by Ken Jennings my senior year at St. Olaf, “They Will Walk and Not be Faint”.
Mostly through my students.
School or bingeing on Netflix in my apartment with friends.

I had planned to be a biomedical engineer until my senior year of high school.
My parents still live up in Longmont; I have one sister who lives with her husband in Milwaukee.
Adorable kitty named Snickers.
I’m a sucker for young adult novels–primarily sci-fi/fantasy (think Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings, Enders Game, etc.) I say it’s because I teach middle school and need to be up on the latest cultural phenomena, but really, I just enjoy reading them.
That’s a toughie as I’m a pretty big movie buff. I love sci-fi, fantasy and psychological thrillers. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Inception, Interstellar and Adaptation come to mind. You’ll see me at any Pixar or Disney movie as well. Come Oscar season, you can find me in the theaters watching all of the movies that are up for big awards–I once saw 5 movies in 36 hours because I needed to watch all the Best Pic nominees before the Oscars aired. In 2016, I saw all 16 movies that were up for the big five awards (picture, actor, actress, supporting actor and actress) before the awards aired.
Favorite piece of music
Too hard to answer.
Difficult to answer as I like it all. My go-to’s are singer-songwriters; Billy Joel, Dan Fogelberg, Carole King.
Favorite place you’ve ever visited and why
Australia the summer after Finding Nemo came out — I loved snorkeling and finding all the fish from the movie. I was 14 at the time.
Graduated from St. Olaf College in MN in 2010. Starting my Masters in Music Education at the University of St. Thomas, Summer of 2016.
