I Dream A World: Songs of Unity and Hope

  • Sunday, March 10, 4:30 pm, Sanctuary

The Evergreen Chorale and The Denver Children’s Choir’s Summit Singers collaborate in I Dream A World: Song of Unity and Hope. Named after Langston Hughes’ poem and Andre Thomas’s choral composition, I Dream a World features 20th and 21st Century compositions that envision a world in which all humans share and care for each other and in which we can hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Daring to dream of community with each other in a world in which we can hope for a brighter tomorrow, I Dream a World features Sarah Quartel’s Snow Angel. This five-movement piece explores themes of love, rebirth, and beauty through children’s eyes and the heavenly army of angels that watch over them, trying to make a difference in their lives and protecting them. The concert also features three pieces by Craig Hella-Johnson, including an arrangement of Carly Simon’s Let the River Run, which joyfully exclaims: “Let the river run, let all the dreamers wake the nation…!” and the title piece I Dream a World by Andre Thomas.
