Stop by the Deacons’ Pancake Breakfast in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, November 16 for your flapjack and fellowship fix (enjoy some scrambled eggs and ham too!). All proceeds benefit Wellshire’s Deacon Fund, which supports food banks, New Genesis Men’s Shelter, youth mission trips, Centus Counseling Service, and congregational care.
Worship on November 2 will celebrate All Saints’ Day, focusing on the departed saints of Wellshire Presbyterian Church. We will once again read out the names of those who passed away during the previous year and light candles in their memory. This moving and memorable tradition will be accompanied by Malcolm Archer’s Requiem at 11:00 am, presented by the Wellshire Sanctuary Choir.[clear]

ORDINATION/INSTALLATION OF REV. KIRA STRINGER
On Sunday, September 28 at 10:00 am, the Wellshire congregation gathered in worship for a special service in which Kira Stringer, Associate Pastor for Youth and Young Adults, was ordained and installed. Congratulations, Reverend! Click here for a photo recap.
Thanks to your awesome generosity, Wellshire Chuch has now matched and exceeded a generous matching grant of $30,000 to partner in funding the construction of a new playground! This new playground replaces the now demolished one, which was 20 years old and not compliant with current safety standards. It will be safer, offer more age-appropriate activities to Wellshire Church children and PDO attendees, and provide visual evangelism to the many new families moving into the Wellshire neighborhood. There are only a few items still needed to make this project complete!
Please partner in this important and exciting ministry on behalf of the children of our congregation, our PDO, and our community.
What is still needed?
Vital “finishing touches”
- Permanent care for the shade tree
- Artificial turf for the toddler playground
- A toddler play house
- New riding toys
Support these “finishing touches” by making a donation to the playground fund here (select “New Playground” on the Donation Form list).

Living Water Choral Opportunity
Do you enjoy singing? Wellshire’s Living Water service is looking for new voices for the Celebration Singers (previously called True North). This choral group will sing a variety of contemporary music for Living Water worship, which resumes on Jubilee Sunday, September 7.
The music will not be memorized but generally will be accompanied and accessible in a 4-part texture. While new members are always welcome, there’s no better time to start than now as we begin a new year. The group rehearses from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday nights beginning August 27 and sing most Sundays during the year at the 9:00 am service.
The Amen Open Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Wellshire Golf Course.
Proceeds from the AMEN OPEN™ are presented to Habitat for Humanity by the Carpenter’s Helpers, a coalition of Denver churches that funds and builds Habitat homes. Your sponsorship and participation in the AMEN OPEN® provides resources for building materials, Habitat’s construction crew, and volunteer labor.

Would you like to support one of our college coeds as they begin the next chapter of their lives? Wellshire has a wonderful program we call Secret Saints. It is designed to show our young college coeds that they are supported by their Wellshire family during their first year of college.
One adult, couple, or family is paired with each freshman but who the saint is, of course, is kept a secret from the student and their family. Once a month or so, the Secret Saint sends cards, care packages, or some other surprise to let them know that someone here at Wellshire, other than their parents, is thinking of them has them in their prayers. It is rewarding and fun for both Saint and student and means so much to the freshman away from home.
If you feel you would like the opportunity to be a Secret Saint for the upcoming school year, please contact Beth Graves and let her know you are interested in sainthood. No previous experienced required! Email her or call 303-807-9736. Please contact Beth by August 16. We will notify you within the week who you have been assigned to support.
On Sunday, July 13, the Rev. Dr. Fred Wollerman will preach on his last Sunday on staff here at Wellshire before retirement! His sermon, Communion Is Connection, focuses on Matthew 14:13-21 — the feeding of the five thousand. Communion will be served during worship. The Sanctuary Choir shares Strimple’s To Him That Overcometh as the anthem and Shephard’s The Secret of Christ as the offertory. Please join Dr. Wollerman after worship for a reception in the Memorial Garden to thank him and recognize him for his service at Wellshire Church.
The Bible Buddies Summer Reading Program is back! Children of all ages are invited to participate in Wellshire’s summer reading program sponsored by our Wellshire Library Committee. To enroll in the Bible Buddies program, families may come to the Library to pick up a registration packet. Gift certificates will be awarded in August to all children who have read four or more books from the Wellshire Library and completed two response forms.
