Let’s Build a New Playground ~ Update!
Thanks to your awesome generosity, Wellshire Chuch has now matched and exceeded a generous matching grant of $30,000 to partner in funding the construction of a new playground! This new playground replaces the now demolished one, which was 20 years old and not compliant with current safety standards. It will be safer, offer more age-appropriate activities to Wellshire Church children and PDO attendees, and provide visual evangelism to the many new families moving into the Wellshire neighborhood. There are only a few items still needed to make this project complete!
Please partner in this important and exciting ministry on behalf of the children of our congregation, our PDO, and our community.
What is still needed?
Vital “finishing touches”
- Permanent care for the shade tree
- Artificial turf for the toddler playground
- A toddler play house
- New riding toys
Support these “finishing touches” by making a donation to the playground fund here (select “New Playground” on the Donation Form list).

Progress update
• 50 families have donated to the playground fund thus far. THANK YOU!
• The demolition of the previous playground is complete.
• We are working with an arborist to determine how to preserve the existing shade tree.
Construction is underway!
We began building the new playground on August 18 with the goal that it will be ready on Jubilee Sunday, September 7.

Who’s Singing in Living Water?
Living Water Choral Opportunity
Do you enjoy singing? Wellshire’s Living Water service is looking for new voices for the Celebration Singers (previously called True North). This choral group will sing a variety of contemporary music for Living Water worship, which resumes on Jubilee Sunday, September 7.
The music will not be memorized but generally will be accompanied and accessible in a 4-part texture. While new members are always welcome, there’s no better time to start than now as we begin a new year. The group rehearses from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday nights beginning August 27 and sing most Sundays during the year at the 9:00 am service.
Interested? Contact Tegan Palmer or Michael Pohlenz. Sanctuary Choir singers are welcome to join this group as well!
Amen Open Golf Tournament
The Amen Open Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Wellshire Golf Course.
Proceeds from the AMEN OPEN™ are presented to Habitat for Humanity by the Carpenter’s Helpers, a coalition of Denver churches that funds and builds Habitat homes. Your sponsorship and participation in the AMEN OPEN® provides resources for building materials, Habitat’s construction crew, and volunteer labor.

Thanks to Dr. Fred Wollerman!
On Sunday, July 13, the Rev. Dr. Fred Wollerman will preach on his last Sunday on staff here at Wellshire before retirement! His sermon, Communion Is Connection, focuses on Matthew 14:13-21 — the feeding of the five thousand. Communion will be served during worship. The Sanctuary Choir shares Strimple’s To Him That Overcometh as the anthem and Shephard’s The Secret of Christ as the offertory. Please join Dr. Wollerman after worship for a reception in the Memorial Garden to thank him and recognize him for his service at Wellshire Church.
Bible Buddies Summer Reading Program
