We are living in crazy times!  From the constant change, to learning to embrace losses of all varieties to the state of our world.  It is easy to find yourself in a state of exhaustion.  We invite you to come together in a place of grace.

Join other women of Wellshire (and guests) – from all ages and walks of life – for a time of healing and wholeness. 

The Psalms will provide our map for how people of faith respond and pray to God in all times – moving from lament to praise.  Together we will explore scripture and join in “worshipful work” including a spirituality center, conversation, writing, art, and music to feed the soul. There will also be ample free time for rest and play.

Julie Gvillo is a Commission Lay Pastor in the PC(USA), specializing in retreat ministry as the Founder and Creative Director of A Place of Grace. She has a passion for spiritual formation and thirteen years of pastoral and Christian Education experience in the St. Louis area. Julie is also a certified Reiki Practitioner and a Certified Zentagle Teacher. She brings all of her creative gifts and healing energy and expertise to the work of leading retreats. Her retreats involve elements of study, play humor, and relaxation to encourage engagement with God and surround participants with faith, hope and love.

One Worship at 10 am Through Sept. 4

ONE WORSHIP SERVICE 

Through September 4, Wellshire has one worship service at 10:00 am in the Sanctuary. 

Summer Theme: 

Like a Rolling Stone: Living through change
As we hear stories of stones in the Bible, and especially the way the ancient Israelites used stones as markers to remember significant encounters with God, we invite YOU to bring a stone to church to add to the (temporary) cairn being built in the memorial garden, or a special one to show friends, share stories, and take back home for safekeeping.

Summer Sunday School

Through September 4, Sunday school meets at 9:00 am (adults & youth students in the Memorial Garden and children in the Ensemble Room ) to discuss and examine the sermon text. At 9:30 we gather together in the Memorial Garden to explore the passage in a hands-on and intergenerational way. Come and join in these opportunities to engage with scripture in a new and multi-sensory way while fulfilling your baptismal vows to love and encourage all of God’s children.

Save the Date for Wellshire Church Vacation Bible School 2022 

“Food Truck Party – On a Roll With God!” 

June 20 – 24, 2022 

Ready to cook up some fun? The  Food Truck Party VBS invites children of all ages to get on a roll with God as a parade of Food Trucks rolls into their neighborhood for the summer’s biggest party!

This VBS invites children to pray as Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:11; “Give us this day our daily bread.” These words serve as a reminder that everything we have comes from God — and that it’s by turning to God in prayer that all of our daily needs are met.

At the center of the Food Truck Party is a special food truck called “On a Roll.” Here, Kids (or “Chefs”) will learn from the food truck’s Top Chef, along with DJ Cupcake (an adorable cupcake puppet), about the Daily Specials (Daily Learnings), which are lines from the well-loved prayer that teaches us to turn to God to meet our needs.

Next year, what is now known as Elephant Rock will just be a great memory. In its place will be an exciting, all-new event, with a new name, in a new location somewhere along the front range. And Team Zimbabwe will be there, continuing to raise funds for the orphans and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe. 

But this year, you have a chance to close out the Elephant Rock ride in a blaze of glory – and to make this the best year ever for Team Zimbabwe and the kids!

To ride in the event with Team Zimbabwe, you must: 1) register for the ride 2) set up a fundraising page, and 3) raise a minimum of $100. (To ride with the amazing 2022 Team Zimbabwe jersey, you’ll need to raise $250. But we hope you won’t stop there. By setting up your fundraising page and sharing the link with all your friends and relatives, you can compete to be our top fundraiser and help the children even more!)

EASTER WEEK CALENDAR

6:00 am Sunrise Service in the Memorial Garden (bring your own lawn chairs),
8:45 am, and 11:00 am worship in the Sanctuary

On Easter morning, Confluence and a quartet of our talented vocalists will surround the Sunrise Service at 6 am, with Gospel music to celebrate the Risen Christ. Our identical 8:45 and 11 am services feature festive antiphonal music for two brass quintets and two choirs with organ and timpani as well as Widor’s Toccata and Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus.

Dr. Bell will preach on I Corinthians 15:12-26 in which the Apostle Paul reflects on Jesus Christ’s glorious resurrection and our own resurrection in a sermon entitled, “First Fruits.”
