The Rev. Dr. John H. Bell, Pastor

The Rev. Dr. John H. Bell, Jr., has been the pastor of Wellshire since 2000. Ordained in 1988, he formerly served churches in the Deep South. Born in Durham, North Carolina, he was raised mostly in Knoxville, Tennessee, which he considers home. He graduated from the Webb School in Knoxville and has degrees from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem (B.A.), North Carolina, Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia (M.Div.), and Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia (D.Min.). He recently reconnected with an old colleague from California and married the Rev. Lynn Gifford Bell. He has two grown children and most importantly two granddaughters. At Wellshire, Dr. Bell is Head of Staff and Moderator of Session. He enjoys all aspects of church life, but particularly enjoys preaching and teaching. When he’s not working, he enjoys fishing and camping and is currently trying to resurrect his golf game. He very loudly cheers on the Broncos, Avs, Nuggets, and Rockies! He shares his birthday with John Calvin.
