Kim Clayton began as Transitional Senior Pastor on January 5, 2026. She comes having served in this capacity for four other churches in New York City, Atlanta, Fredericksburg, VA and Louisville, KY. Born and raised in Birmingham, AL, Kim was a ‘regular’ pastor in churches for many years before taking a faculty/administrative position at Columbia Theological Seminary (Decatur, GA), where she served for 13 years as Director of Contextual Education. She gave up her job there to return to church ministry, helping churches navigate a time of pastoral transition so that they are ready to welcome their next installed Pastor in good health. Kim’s son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Becca, live in Atlanta, as does her daughter, Katherine. Kim and Melanie enjoy traveling (obviously), taking long drives in the surrounding area to experience local beauty and interest, supporting the arts in whatever community they are in, gardening, and reading. Their dog, Bentley, demands lots of attention—but he gets away with it because he is cute.
