Help Fill Christmas Food Boxes

Hunger Task Force Christmas Food Boxes

Hunger Task Force Christmas Food BoxesHunger Task Force Christmas Food Boxes

Every year, the Wellshire Church community provides hunger relief to hundreds of families in the Denver metro area. There are lots of ways to get involved in the 2015 Hunger Task Force Christmas Food Boxes:[clear]

  • nominate a person or family struggling with food insecurity as a recipient of a Hunger Task Force Christmas Food Box
  • Donate peanut butter and jelly for the Christmas Food Boxes to the table in the Narthex and the Adult Ed Suite through December 6
  • Help pack boxes:  Saturday, December 12 @ 1:00 pm
  • Help Deliver Boxes: Sunday, December 13 @ 8:30 am

What makes these boxes possible?

Wellshire’s Hunger Task Force uses donations given by the congregation throughout the year via the Brighter Days Food Fund envelopes in the pewbacks; dollars add up and work hard to spread the joy of Christmas where it is most needed. This means lots of cupboards to fill—but we’ve done it before and we can do it again with your help.

Download the Christmas Food Boxes flyer here.

Thanks for your help in continuing this Wellshire tradition of Christmas food delivery to help hungry people in our community!

Generosity Sunday November 15

Generosity Sunday

FIT_at_Wellshire_web_bannerPlease join us in worship on Sunday November 15 for Generosity Sunday; Dr. Bell preaches on Philippians 4:4-14. Please note that both services will be in the Sanctuary. The annual Wellshire tradition of Generosity Sunday gives individuals in the Wellshire community the opportunity to pledge their financial commitment for the upcoming year during worship. Please prayerfully consider how you can practice the spiritual discipline of giving, which undergirds the ministries critical to Wellshire’s work as the hands and feet of Christ – we can’t do it without you![clear]

“We all devote our time, work energy, and money to that which is important to us. Increased giving each year has strengthened my faith and my bond with my church family. Financial Peace University has enlightened me to the concept of giving a tithe and offerings — not a tithe or offerings. Rev. John Bell has pointed out that generosity to our church — the Body of Christ — is having a religious as well as a spiritual experience.  I feel it!”

Cycling Festival To Benefit Orphans In Zimbabwe

Team Wellshire riders at Elephant Rock, 2015Thank You Wellshire!

A big thank you for supporting Team Wellshire and, through it, the orphans at the Heather Chimhoga Orphan Center in rural Murewea, Zimbabwe.  On June 7, Team Wellshire riders rode in the Elephant Rock Cycling Festival in Castle Rock as a part of Team Zimbabwe.  Their participation and the generous financial contributions from Wellshire members and friends garnered $11,120 for the Denver Presbytery-wide Zimbabwe Mission Partnership, of which Wellshire is a partner church.  The entire 2015 Team Zimbabwe effort has raised $43,000 and had 100 riders!  This event raises almost half of the annual budget for the orphan center, which provides for the daily care for 1,000 orphans.

The ZMP is  comprised of 12 churches, including Wellshire. The sole focus of this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is the support and development of the Heather Chimhoga Orphan Center in rural Murewea, Zimbabwe.

Team_Zimbabwe_imageEvery year, these 12 Presbyterian churches rally to form Team Zimbabwe, a group of cyclists who ride in the Elephant Rock Cycling Festival in Castle Rock. Team Wellshire returns as a subset of Team Zimbabwe and an activity of Wellshire Recreation Ministry to raise funds for the orphans and create community through play!

If you’d like to contribute financially, please do so at your earliest convenience. Click here to make a donation to Team Wellshire online. Or write a check for any amount to Wellshire Church (memo: “Team Wellshire”).
