Congratulations To The Vocal Jazz Messengers!

Vocal Jazz Messengers

Congratulations, Vocal Jazz Messengers

Vocal Jazz MessengersDonna Wickham, the director of Living Water worship’s instrumental ensemble Confluence, also directs the Vocal Jazz Messengers, a student jazz combo at DU that writes and arranges all of its own music. Two members of the combo, Brendan Schuster and Samantha Barrasso, sing in Living Water worship, and Hudson Knott regularly subs on bass. The Vocal Jazz Messengers were recently awarded the most prestigious international jazz award for student musicians, the Downbeat Award for Outstanding Performance for Small Vocal Jazz Group at an Undergraduate College. Thanks to these musicians for sharing their incredible talents at Wellshire to the glory of God!

On Sunday, May 29, Wellshire’s summer worship schedule starts with its combined service at 10:00 am in the Sanctuary. During the summer (May 29 – September 4), the whole of Wellshire Church worships together within one service. The service order is a standard Presbyterian form, but the worship leaders engender a more casual style of worship leadership in step with the summer months in Colorado. Childcare is available for children ages six weeks through preschool.

Worship on Sunday, May 29 at 10:00 am features the Vocal Jazz Messengers in a program of Brazilian praise and gospel jazz music.

Who’s Singing in Living Water?

Living Water Worship Service

Living Water Choral Opportunity

Living Water Worship ServiceDo you enjoy singing?  Wellshire’s Living Water service is looking for new voices for the Celebration Singers (previously called True North).  This choral group will sing a variety of contemporary music for Living Water worship, which resumes on Jubilee Sunday, September 7.

The music will not be memorized but generally will be accompanied and accessible in a 4-part texture.  While new members are always welcome, there’s no better time to start than now as we begin a new year.  The group rehearses from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday nights beginning August 27 and sing most Sundays during the year at the 9:00 am service.

Interested? Contact Tegan Palmer or Michael Pohlenz.  Sanctuary Choir singers are welcome to join this group as well!
