Did you know a rural Zimbabwean orphanage receives almost all of its funding for 1,000 children from 12 Denver churches – including Wellshire? Help support the Heather Chimhoga Orphan Center (HCOC) by:

  • Riding in the Subaru Elephant Rock Cycling Festival on Sunday, June 5 as a part of Team Wellshire, a group of Wellshire cyclists who join together with other the churches to create the massive Team Zimbabwe. Register here.
  • Donating by writing a check for any amount to Wellshire Church with Team Wellshire in the memo or by giving online here – you can even dedicate your gift to a rider on Team Wellshire.

Ride for Lida with Team Zimbabwe in 2016Whether you’re a rider or a check-writer, your participation helps feed, clothe, provide medical help and pay school fees for over 1,000 orphans. This event provides half of the annual budget of the HCOC. Questions? Visit a Team Wellshire rep at the poster in the Narthex, or contact George Scheuernstuhl.

Cycling Festival To Benefit Orphans In Zimbabwe

Team Wellshire riders at Elephant Rock, 2015Thank You Wellshire!

A big thank you for supporting Team Wellshire and, through it, the orphans at the Heather Chimhoga Orphan Center in rural Murewea, Zimbabwe.  On June 7, Team Wellshire riders rode in the Elephant Rock Cycling Festival in Castle Rock as a part of Team Zimbabwe.  Their participation and the generous financial contributions from Wellshire members and friends garnered $11,120 for the Denver Presbytery-wide Zimbabwe Mission Partnership, of which Wellshire is a partner church.  The entire 2015 Team Zimbabwe effort has raised $43,000 and had 100 riders!  This event raises almost half of the annual budget for the orphan center, which provides for the daily care for 1,000 orphans.

The ZMP is  comprised of 12 churches, including Wellshire. The sole focus of this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is the support and development of the Heather Chimhoga Orphan Center in rural Murewea, Zimbabwe.

Team_Zimbabwe_imageEvery year, these 12 Presbyterian churches rally to form Team Zimbabwe, a group of cyclists who ride in the Elephant Rock Cycling Festival in Castle Rock. Team Wellshire returns as a subset of Team Zimbabwe and an activity of Wellshire Recreation Ministry to raise funds for the orphans and create community through play!

If you’d like to contribute financially, please do so at your earliest convenience. Click here to make a donation to Team Wellshire online. Or write a check for any amount to Wellshire Church (memo: “Team Wellshire”).

Greg Allen-Pickett Chapel Presentation

Greg Allen-Pickett

Greg Allen-PickettGreg Allen-Pickett, General Manager of Presbyterian World Mission, traveled to Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq with Moderator Heath Rada in Fall 2014.  The purpose of the visit was to stand in solidarity with our church partners in those countries.  They sat with people displaced by violence, both from the Syrian Civil War and from ISIS.  They assessed the needs to be able to provide relief and assistance.  And together with our global church partners they prayed for God’s peace to reign in the region.  On Sunday, April 12 at 9:55 am in the Chapel, Greg will share stories of despair and hope from this trip, stories of our Christian brothers and sisters in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.
